Client: Highways England SWF

Location: South West

Products: One Coat Eliminator, EMR50

Route One removed the existing Maurer Joint by burning out the rails but leaving in the steel base plates to leave an acceptable foundation to install the EMR50 joint. Once the rails were removed we identified vibration in the base plates and so collaborated with Highways England to reach a sound design and installation regarding a solution.

The existing base plates were diamond drilled and a fast setting grout was injected to fill voids in the existing concrete deck this then in turn was re diamond drilled and anchored with chemical fixings to allow the base plates to be bolted down securely thus leaving a sound foundation for the new EMR50 joint to be installed.

  • Maurer joint removed but leaving in base plates so not to damage the deck
  • Worked closely with Highways England and their designers to find a solution causing no disruption to the delivery programme
